The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Alliance has named the Professor Raina MacIntyre from the Kirby Institute at UNSW Sydney a finalist in three categories of their 2025 AmCham Alliance Awards.

The Awards identify the pathfinders in the industries that will shape the future economic collaboration between Australia and the United States. Prof MacIntyre is a finalist in an unprecedented three of the eight categories: Advanced Capabilities, Innovator of the Year, and Life Sciences. These nominations are in recognition of her industry-leading work on EPIWATCH, an advanced AI system for early epidemic detection, and the Able Resolve tabletop biosurveillance exercises held in 2024 that prepared US IndoPacific Command military responders on best practice infectious disease emergency detection and response.

“Raina’s work on EPIWATCH and epidemic response has been forward-thinking and world leading since well before the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Kirby Institute Director, Scientia Professor Anthony Kelleher. “To be recognised as a finalist across an impressive three categories is a great recognition of Raina’s position as an innovator at the forefront of applying cutting-edge technology  to real and present health threats and challenges.”

The winners will be announced at the 2025 AmCham Alliance Awards Gala on Thursday, 16 October in Sydney.
