In this seminar, Dr Duette will discuss a study undertaken at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research that investigated the immune mechanisms underlying HIV control following analytical treatment interruption.
The study assessed phenotypic and functional changes associated with sustained viral control to determine how repeated antigen exposure shapes antiviral CD8 T-cell responses. Dr Duette discuss the impact of the study's findings on the development of next generation immunotherapeutic strategies for HIV.
Gabriel Duette
PhD is a Senior Research Scientist at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research, Sydney and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. He co-leads the HIV Reservoir Group at the Centre for Virus Research, where his research focuses on mechanisms of HIV persistence and immune-mediated control of infection. His work integrates immunology, molecular virology, and single-cell multi-omics to study post-treatment control of HIV, the impact of tuberculosis coinfection on HIV persistence, and the role of CD8 T cells in durable viral suppression.
