Evaluation of hepatitis C testing strategies to achieve elimination by 2030
Annabelle's presentation will discuss her PhD research, which evaluated acceptability, patient preferences, and implementation of alternative hepatitis C testing strategies in Australia, including point-of-care and dried blood spot testing. Findings highlight that elimination efforts depend on delivering the right test to the right person in the right setting, improving access, uptake and linkage to care.

Enhancing infectious disease surveillance with testing denominator data
The aim of infectious disease surveillance is to produce the information needed to prevent and control communicable disease. Routine infectious disease surveillance is effective at counting diagnosed cases, but notification rates can be difficult to interpret when testing practices and the populations tested change over time. Testing denominator data approaches offer an alternative. This presentation examines what they add and their limitations.

Dr Annabelle Stevens has recently finished her PhD thesis within the Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney on evaluating hepatitis C testing strategies in Australia, with a focus on improving diagnosis linkage to care and elimination of hepatitis C nationally. She is also the Manager of the Hepatitis Programs and Policy Unit at NSW Health overseeing development and implementation of hepatitis B and C strategies.. |
| Nicolas Legrand
Nicolas Legrand is a PhD candidate and research officer in the Global Health Program, and the Surveillance Evaluation and Research Program. His research is focussed on using routinely collected pathology laboratory tests as denominator data to enhance infectious disease surveillance.
