Kate Burry is a PhD candidate at the Kirby Institute, University of New South Wales, investigating reproductive (in)justice, abortion and infanticide in the Pacific Islands. She has worked as a sex educator in Vanuatu and New Zealand, and has worked in the sexual and domestic violence sectors. She has led various research projects including on the sexual and reproductive health and rights of sex workers in Luganville, Vanuatu, barriers to family planning uptake remote communities in Vanuatu, and on reproductive coercion in New Zealand. She is also involved in a project investigating comprehensive sexuality education in juvenile detention settings. Her interests include sexual and reproductive rights and justice, comprehensive sexuality education, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and maternal mental health.
