The HIV Cohorts Research Group

The HIV Cohorts Research Group within the Biostatistics and Databases Program conducts research on the long-term clinical outcomes of people living with HIV and receiving effective antiretroviral treatment (ART) for life, while also facing an ageing HIV population. To evaluate the association between modern ART therapies, HIV infection, natural ageing processes, and chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease, and all-cause mortality, we utilise data from national and large multi-international HIV cohorts. Our research heavily emphasises large-scale multidisciplinary collaborations, working alongside clinicians, researchers, and community organisations locally and globally, with the goal of providing insight for screening and prevention management of people living with and ageing with HIV.
