- HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) first became available through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) on April 1st 2018.
- In the first nine months after PBS listing, an estimated 18,530 individuals were dispensed PBS-subsidised PrEP. This represents approximately 2000 additional individuals each month dispensed PBS-subsidised PrEP for the first time.
